Silvano arrivò al mio studio di Cesena quando era poco più di un bambino. E' cresciuto dentro quella "Bottega d'arte" che era, in quegli anni, un punto d'incontro vivace e stimolante frequentato da artisti e intellettuali che venivano da ogni parte d’Italia. Qualcosa di quella esperienza ha nutrito la sua maturazione di uomo ed è diventata parte della sua identità di artista. Il dubbio, la curiosità per nuovi percorsi; mettersi continuamente in gioco per risolvere tutte le contraddizioni. E' un cammino ambizioso e accidentato che molti preferiscono non rischiare. L'eco di quelle discussioni nello studio della Rocca deve risuonare ancora nei pensieri di Silvano: la complessità dei problemi che pone la pratica dell'arte si potrà risolvere solo quando non avremo più paura di essere completamente noi stessi. E' stato lungo il cammino di Silvano. Sembra esserci una lontananza che è difficile misurare dai dipinti degli anni '70, animati da un decisa ipoteca socio-politica, fino a queste tele di grande formato che Silvano adopera come fogli di un diario dove scrive, con la calligrafia di un raffinato incisore, pagine di grande suggestione lirica. Sono due momenti del viaggio di Silvano; una ricerca che non ha voluto mai spegnersi dentro le seduzione della moda. Un viaggio, che testimonia del tempo in cui viviamo, che ci invita a guardare senza pregiudizi un mondo più denso e profondo.  (Alberto Sughi)

Silvano arrived at my atelier in Cesena when he was little more than a child. He grew up in that 'Bottega d'arte' that was, in those years, a lively and stimulating meeting point frequented by artists and intellectuals who came from all over Italy. Something of that experience nurtured his maturation as a man and became part of his identity as an artist. Doubt, curiosity about new paths; continually get involved in order to solve all contradictions. It is an ambitious and uneven road that many prefer not to take. The echo of those discussions in the tower atelier must still resound in Silvano's thoughts: the complexity of the problems posed by the practice of art can only be solved when we are no longer afraid of being completely ourselves. It was a long way for Silvano. There seems to be a distance that is difficult to measure from the paintings of the 70s, animated by a strong socio-political hypothecation, to these large format paintings that Silvano uses as sheets of a diary where he writes, with the calligraphy of a refined engraver, pages of great lyrical charm. These are two moments of Silvano's journey; a research that has never wanted to go out into the seduction of fashion. A journey that bears witness to the time in which we live, that invites us to look without prejudice at a denser and deeper world. (Alberto Sughi)
